Apple Podcasts Celebrates 50,000th New Wrestling Podcast
Apple delivers the new show a prize package
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA - Today, Apple Podcasts has announced that the 50,000th wrestling-related show has been added to their podcast-hosting service. In addition to celebrating the launch of the "Fans of Low Blows" podcast--which is not related to the Low Blows podcast--Apple announced they would be giving the hosts of the show a celebratory gift: podcasting equipment.
After the launch of the first episode, which was filmed over Zoom in 30-minute increments using mics from gaming headsets where the audio is blown out and barely edited in Audacity, Apple delivered professional podcasting equipment. This included multiple Shure MV7+ USB/XLR mics, a Rode Rodecaster Pro II, a lifetime subscription to Streamyard, and a lifetime subscription to Adobe Audition.
"We really want Fans of Low Blows to be set up for success," Apple said in a statement. "The wrestling community is passionate and loves hearing two people complaining about a sport they claim to love so much that we've hit 50,000 different versions of that format. What a truly inspiring success."
Fans of Low Blows is hosted by James Timmons and Jason Telbons. The duo states that their show "promises a no-holds-barred look at the wrestling industry," and they "won't hold back with any of their opinions." Both avid wrestling fans, Fans of Low Blows will cover wrestling from WWE, AEW, TNA, NWA, and various other promotions or whatever else they catch clips of on YouTube.
"I'm just happy I have something to do outside of working IT," said Timmons. "I watch clips of all the wrestling promotions while I work, every day, so I consider myself a bit of an expert on wrestling. I can talk about how Swerve and Hangman Page are being pushed down our throats or how WWE is doing an awful job and the Netflix deal will kill the company. I'm pretty versatile and smart."
"This is really cool to see a corporation care so much about the little guy," Telbons said. "We're getting thousands of dollars in equipment just for starting this cool show that we will probably be really successful because people want to hear about our opinions online. We have a big following on X, Threads, and Bluesky, and our voices there have really caused a stir on the internet."
In total, the duo have a combined following of 531 people.
"I think this show will be important," Timmons explained. "It's going to run for a long time, or at least until I find something better to do. I don't know. I'm moving to Washington next month, and I want the show to keep going on, but who knows? There isn't good internet in the area, but we have four episodes recorded, ready to go, so that will probably get us through December. These episodes won't be really timely, but as soon I settle in at the new house, find a new IT job, get my son enrolled in the second half of the school year, buy a new car, and fix some of the major problems issues with the foundations and the roof, we'll be right on track to record new episodes. This will be easy."
New episodes of Fans of Low Blows are released on Wednesdays exclusively on Apple Podcasts.
